Pedestrian is Killed in Hit and Run Crash in Marlboro County, SC

Hit and run crashes are far from uncommon on the highways of South Carolina. Earlier this month South Carolina Highway Patrol reported on a deadly hit and run crash in Marlboro County.

The accident occurred on Old Wire Road near Aaron Temple Church Road. Investigators said a car struck a pedestrian before the driver fled the scene.

Marlboro County Coroner Tim Brown identified Charles McCall, 38, as the pedestrian killed in the accident.

South Carolina Highway Patrol officers said they were looking for a vehicle with possible damage to the front and undercarriage of the vehicle. Highway Patrol's Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) was on the scene gathering evidence to determine the make and model of the vehicle.

It's bad enough when a driver strikes a pedestrian or another motorist, leaving the victim injured. It's even worse when a driver flees the scene of an accident.

In April, 2014, police released video footage of an alleged hit and run driver in Columbia. The State reported the accident at Gervais and Harden Streets in the city. A female pedestrian was hit in the crosswalk on Gervais Street by a car heading away from downtown. Police said she was taken to a local hospital with broken bones but otherwise non-life-threatening injuries.

If you are injured by a driver who flees a scene and is not tracked down, you may be able to claim on your own insurance policy.

Uninsured motorist coverage is intended for this kind of scenario as well as situations in which the at-fault motorist has no coverage or minimal coverage.

In many cases, this uninsured motorist coverage (UM) is costs little extra and can be obtained in a matter of minutes through the individual's insurance company.

Uninsured/Underinsured (UM/UIM) motorist coverage is available to all drivers in South Carolina under state statutes.

Case Evaluation
Pleasantly Surprised I am not a big fan of Attorneys. I went thorough a nasty divorce and learned the hard way the importance of having someone who has your best interests in mind. I dreaded the fact of hiring an Attorney when my ex tried to take me back to Court. I heard about Bob Masella through a coworker. From the minute I met with Bob to go over my situation I could tell instantly he had my best interest in mind and he was very sincere in fighting for those interests. I would recommend this Law Firm to everyone. Bob was great at getting done what I needed. His staff was very pleasant to work with as well.
